South Africa's National Gambling Board, the North West Gambling Board and community development workers from CoGTA have carried out a series of public-awareness activities across North West province. The campaign focused on the risks of underage and illegal gambling and on helping residents identify lawful, responsible choices.
At Colinda Senior Secondary School in Vryburg, officials spoke with learners about the dangers of gambling before the legal age and measures intended to prevent it. The visit is documented in an official NGB update.
The programme also moved into transport and residential settings. The NGB's official website records outreach at Huhudi taxi rank on October 21 and a visit to the Sarafina community in Potchefstroom on October 22, where the discussion covered unlawful gambling methods and their risks.
iGaming AFRIKA reports that commuters and taxi operators were among the people reached. The campaign combines school education with community contact, giving the regulators a way to address both youth exposure and illegal activity outside formal gambling venues.
