Prediction markets and event contracts formed a dedicated part of the International Association of Gaming Regulators' annual conference in Lima, Peru. IAGR confirms that the conference ran from October 19 to 22 in partnership with Peru's Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism.

The official conference agenda framed the prediction-market session around consumer protection, sports integrity, regulatory arbitrage, advertising and products that resemble gambling while seeking treatment outside gambling law. Regulators and legal specialists from the United States, Argentina and Greece were listed as speakers.

A separate session considered the convergence of sports wagering and event markets, including suspicious trading, match-fixing, offshore activity and cross-border integrity risks. SBC Noticias reports that participants expected the sector to continue growing while differing over the regulatory response, with protection of minors and legal uncertainty among the concerns discussed.

The conference produced debate rather than a binding international rule. Its agenda shows that regulators are now examining prediction markets alongside established gambling oversight, but each jurisdiction still has to decide which laws, consumer safeguards and enforcement powers apply to the products offered in its market.
