The Nevis Online Gaming Authority has opened applications for a new prediction-market licence covering operators and technology suppliers. The framework extends the Caribbean jurisdiction's online-gaming regime to businesses offering contracts tied to the outcome of future events.
The authority's announcement says the route is available to B2B platform and infrastructure providers as well as B2C operators serving participants directly. Its stated requirements include regulatory compliance, transparent market rules and participant protection.
The scope can include binary and multiple-outcome markets linked to sport, economic indicators, politics, entertainment, weather and digital assets, according to SBC Noticias. The launch gives international businesses another offshore licensing option as jurisdictions take different approaches to whether event contracts should be treated as gambling or financial products.
A Nevis authorisation is not a passport into every market. NOGA says licensees must also comply with the laws and restrictions of each jurisdiction in which they operate. Companies therefore still need a separate legal assessment for every country they target, particularly where local regulators restrict prediction markets or classify them under gambling or financial-services rules.
