Kangwon Land's board has approved a new mid-to-long-term strategy that targets KRW3 trillion, about $2.26 billion, in annual resort-wide revenue. The plan covers 2027 through 2031 and replaces the operator's previous 2030 strategy after Kim Do-gyun became chief executive.

An Inside Asian Gaming report on the board decision says the revised framework places more emphasis on long-term growth, public-institution responsibilities and measurable execution. Kangwon Land describes its ambition as building a global integrated resort that also benefits its surrounding community.

The strategy calls for a stronger experiential tourism offer and a more entertainment-led casino business while supporting the transition of the former coal-mining region. It also sets goals tied to public-service satisfaction, environmental, social and governance performance, and contributions to the local economy.

The higher target follows a softer recent quarter. Focus Gaming News reported that second-quarter 2026 revenue declined 4.2% year on year to KRW345.6 billion as casino visits weakened and hotel renovations weighed on non-gaming income. The operator is pursuing a broader transformation program valued at about $1.9 billion.
