A county permit has moved Churchill Downs' proposed Henry County expansion into the planning stage. The operator wants to replace its small Collinsville gaming room with a purpose-built property near Martinsville Speedway, G3 Newswire reports.

The approved parcel is beside a major road junction, north of the Route 58 bypass and east of Old Greensboro Road. Plans envisage 150 terminals whose outcomes are based on past horse races. Guests would also be able to watch and wager on live race broadcasts, while the building would include places to eat and drink.

Rosie's Game Room in Collinsville currently has 37 terminals. Replacing it with the proposed property would therefore raise the county operation's machine count by 113 and place it nearer the speedway and traffic arriving from North Carolina.

The operator's October 28 announcement describes the design as unfinished. No budget, building schedule or launch date has been disclosed. The zoning decision allows the proposal to proceed, but it does not mean construction is complete or that the new venue is ready to open.
