China's consulate general in Jeju has warned about agents allegedly using Chinese-language social media to solicit tourists for gambling at the South Korean island's casinos. The diplomatic mission said it had received reports and complaints from Chinese visitors about private-message recruitment.

The consulate statement, published on October 28, reiterates China's opposition to organising or soliciting citizens to gamble across borders. It says that activity may breach Chinese law even when a casino is legally established in another jurisdiction.

The mission also asked South Korean authorities to strengthen oversight of casino operations and prevent gambling solicitation aimed at Chinese tourists. GGRAsia reports that Jeju's casinos serve foreign visitors and places the warning within the island's reliance on tourism from mainland China and other regional markets.

The public statement does not identify a casino, licensed operator or individual agent, and it does not present an enforcement finding against a named business. Its immediate significance is a diplomatic request for tighter supervision rather than a reported change to Jeju's casino rules.
