A Buenos Aires provincial lawmaker has proposed charging customers before they access online betting platforms or enter physical gambling venues. Deputy Roberto Vázquez filed the measure as a funding and deterrence tool for policies addressing gambling-related harm.
For digital platforms, the charge would be set at the value of ten minimum bets in the selected game. Physical venues would collect an admission payment before entry, according to the proposal reported by G3 Newswire.
Money raised under the plan would be directed to prevention, assistance, diagnosis, treatment, research and professional training. The bill also includes identity checks, self-exclusion enforcement and limits covering deposits, losses or playing time.
The official filing is numbered D-3783/26-27 and remains a legislative proposal rather than an enacted rule. Its fee structure and player-protection provisions will therefore depend on the outcome of debate in the provincial legislature.
