Dutch player Bo Hoebe has won the €1,500 WSOP Circuit Madrid Main Event, taking €207,000 and his second Circuit ring after a heads-up contest with Argentina's Nacho Barbero. The tournament concluded at Casino Gran Vía on November 1.
The official WSOP result records 918 entries and a €1,164,942 prize pool, with 140 players paid. Barbero collected €130,000 as runner-up, while Norway's Tom-Aksel Bedell finished third for €90,000.
Hoebe began the final table with roughly a quarter of the chips in play, but Barbero quickly transformed the contest by climbing from the shortest stack to the lead. Their heads-up duel then moved in both directions before the Dutch player secured the decisive pot.
According to PokerNews' account, Hoebe completed the comeback by making a full house on the river in the final hand. The victory also brought a $5,000 package for the next WSOP Paradise, extending the value of his largest recorded tournament score beyond the Madrid payout.
