The UK's All-Party Parliamentary Group on Gambling Reform has endorsed a campaign petition calling for gambling advertising and sponsorship to be removed from football. The support followed meetings involving parliamentarians, academics and campaigners, according to an October 26 report by iGaming Business.

The Coalition to End Gambling Ads is preparing to deliver the petition to Downing Street. Its published campaign page targets promotion across shirts, pitch-side boards, stadium branding and match coverage, arguing that young supporters continue to see betting messages throughout the sport.

The APPG's endorsement adds parliamentary support to the campaign but does not change current advertising law. It comes after a House of Lords committee renewed pressure for wider restrictions rather than announcing a government decision.

The Lords Liaison Committee's September report recommended a comprehensive ban on gambling advertising as part of a public-health approach. Debate remains open over how any restriction would treat sports sponsorship, licensed operators and the risk of consumers moving to unregulated services.
