Sun International has closed Flamingo Casino in Kimberley, ending more than 24 years of trading at the Northern Cape property. The casino stopped operating at 3am on 1 November after its final full trading day on 31 October.
The operator's customer notice confirms the closing time and says eligible membership benefits remain available at participating Sun International properties and on Sunbet. Cash held on membership cards can also be used at other group casinos.
Moneyweb reported that Flamingo was Sun International's smallest property. The closure followed a prolonged decline in revenue and operating losses, after the company reviewed four smaller casinos earlier in the year.
The company has not announced a replacement gaming operation at the site. Its public information focuses on customer balances and the transferability of loyalty benefits after the venue's permanent closure.
