Mohegan Sun has begun a multi-phase $30 million renovation of its 10,000-seat arena in Uncasville, Connecticut. The project will replace seating, update concessions and concourse areas, improve entrances and add new premium hospitality facilities while the venue continues to host events through early winter.
The investment was announced on November 5, with the first phase already under way. CDC Gaming reported that most construction will proceed around the active calendar before a temporary shutdown starts in mid-December. The arena is expected to remain closed through mid-February and reopen on February 28.
The initial work covers arena-wide seating replacement, new lighting and flooring, upgraded kitchens and concessions, refreshed restrooms and additional digital displays. According to the Mohegan Sun Newsroom, both main entrances will receive wider LED screens, while two beer garden outlets will be converted into marketplace-style areas with new kitchens and more than 30 taps.
The operator said the renovation was designed with SCI Architects and is intended to modernize the experience for guests, performers and promoters. Mohegan Sun plans to add a nearly 4,000-square-foot VIP lounge in 2027. The space is expected to accommodate as many as 150 guests and connect to the Casino of the Sky entrance.
The investment comes as Mohegan Sun marks 30 years of operation and the arena reaches its 25th anniversary. The company also said a separate $22 million renovation of the resort's Earth Tower is scheduled to begin next summer, extending the broader capital program beyond the arena.
