Hun Wei Lee defeated 2005 World Series of Poker Main Event champion Joe Hachem heads-up to win the A$2,500 Victorian Champs Main Event at Crown Melbourne. The completed tournament record lists Lee as the winner of a 715-entry field, with A$350,000 for first place from a A$1.573 million prize pool.
Hachem collected A$210,000 as runner-up after a heads-up contest that lasted more than two hours. The final hand ended when Lee's pocket jacks improved to three of a kind on the river against Hachem's ace-five, overturning the pair of aces Hachem had made on the flop.
Lee began the final table as chip leader but lost that advantage before rebuilding. According to the post-event report, the two finalists exchanged the lead several times before Lee closed the match. Zac Miravet finished third for A$135,000.
The victory is Lee's second major result at Crown Melbourne in 2026. He also won the A$25,000 Challenge during the Aussie Millions in May, but said beating Hachem was especially meaningful because the Australian champion inspired him to begin playing poker.
