The Choctaw Nation has broken ground on a $140 million expansion of its casino resort in Pocola, Oklahoma. The 28-month project will add a seven-storey hotel tower and modernise major parts of the existing property near the Arkansas border.
Talk Business & Politics reported that more than 200 people attended the November 5 ceremony. The new tower will contain 130 rooms, while all 118 rooms in the existing hotel will be renovated.
The development also includes a resort pool, spa, fitness centre and new food and beverage options. Gaming-floor lighting and carpet will be refreshed, and poker, off-track betting and the rewards club will move into upgraded spaces.
The Choctaw Nation expects the completed project to add more than 150 permanent jobs and generate an annual economic impact of about $20 million. Construction itself is projected to support 1,050 regional jobs before completion in early 2029.
