Argentina's Senate has agreed to prioritise a bill on harmful gambling prevention and online betting controls, reviving a proposal that had remained pending in the upper house for almost two years. The procedural motion was requested by Senator Lucía Corpacci and approved during the latest session.

The Chamber of Deputies passed the proposal in November 2024. SoloAzar reports that the new motion is intended to move it through a joint committee review and then toward the Senate agenda before the ordinary session closes.

The timetable matters because the bill risks losing parliamentary status if lawmakers do not advance it before the end of November. La Nación says the proposal has faced little progress in the upper house since the lower-house vote.

Approval of the motion does not enact the bill. It establishes priority for debate, while committees and the full Senate still have to complete the remaining legislative stages. According to SBC Noticias, the initiative addresses online betting regulation and measures intended to reduce gambling-related harm, particularly among younger users.
