Will Kassouf left the La Notte Degli Assi festival in Venice with a €50,000 bonus despite failing to reach the Main Event's final day. The British player drew the only top prize in the tournament's Caccia al Tesoro, a random reward system tied to Day 1 performance.
Kassouf earned his draw ticket after finishing fourth in the final opening flight with 2.9 million chips. The five largest stacks from each of ten Day 1 flights qualified for the draw, which offered 50 envelopes ranging from €900 to €50,000, according to the event report from PokerNews.
The €50,000 bonus was only €6,600 below the Main Event's third-place payout. The full Treasure Hunt pool totalled €200,000 and formed part of the festival's €1 million guarantee rather than an additional pot.
The festival ran at Ca' Vendramin Calergi from October 12 to 19, marking the return of a major live poker event to the historic Venetian casino. Corriere dello Sport had announced the venue and dates earlier in the year.
