Vitória president Fábio Mota says the Brazilian Serie A club faces a R$45 million gap in its financial planning after losing revenue from its betting-company master sponsorship. His latest comments were reported by iGaming Brazil.
Mota said the agreement had been expected to provide about R$3 million each month. That income was already built into Vitória's budget before Brazil's prohibition on fixed-odds betting ended the sponsorship arrangement.
The club president criticized the absence of a transition period for existing contracts. He argued that several months of notice, or a requirement for sponsors to meet contractual commitments through a defined date, would have given clubs time to adjust.
Vitória is now looking for replacement revenue and may use player sales to reduce the shortfall. BNews reported the R$45 million figure from Mota's comments after the club's draw with Corinthians, while earlier estimates had varied as the club assessed the longer-term effect.
