A bipartisan pair of US senators has asked Kalshi and Polymarket to explain how they police contracts tied to elections. Democrat Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts and Republican John Curtis of Utah sent questions to the platforms before the November 3 midterm vote.
The inquiry requests information on measures intended to prevent insider trading, market manipulation and wagers based on material nonpublic information. CDC Gaming reports that the letter also asks the companies to identify election-related cases referred to the Commodity Futures Trading Commission.
The senators cited earlier instances in which candidates traded on contracts involving their own races and asked how many similar transactions may have escaped detection. The letter is a request for information, not a finding that either platform violated the law.
A report carried by Pechanga.net says Kalshi maintains that it uses Federal Election Commission payroll data to block candidates and campaign staff from election markets and has created an independent market integrity committee. The companies were asked to detail both their existing safeguards and any previous enforcement referrals.
