Turkey's football disciplinary board has imposed 45-day bans on 147 current and former club officials after finding that they breached betting rules. The sanctions bar them from carrying out football duties during the suspension and conclude part of a review that initially covered 448 people.
Reuters reported that the Professional Football Disciplinary Board found violations in 147 cases. Trabzonspor president Ertugrul Dogan was among those sanctioned, according to the ruling cited by the news agency. This is a federation disciplinary finding, not a criminal conviction.
The result also narrowed the case considerably. The board imposed no penalty on the other 301 officials after finding insufficient grounds for disciplinary action. Spanish-language coverage reported the same split between sanctioned and dismissed cases.
The 45-day term corresponds with the minimum deprivation-of-rights sanction set out for club officials in the federation's published disciplinary rules. The decision follows the provisional referral of all 448 officials and should not be read as a finding against those whose cases were dismissed.
