Spain's gambling regulator has moved the deadline for comments on a proposed risk-behaviour detection mechanism to 26 October 2026.

Spain’s Directorate General for the Regulation of Gambling (DGOJ) has extended a public-participation period covering a proposed mechanism for detecting risky gambling behaviour. The new deadline is 23:59 on 26 October 2026, four calendar days later than the date originally announced.

Deadline moves to 26 October

The regulator opened the second participation stage on 13 October and initially invited comments until 22 October. A separate DGOJ extension notice moved that deadline to 26 October, inclusive. The DGOJ says the extra time applies equally to all participants and does not change the subject or the remaining conditions of the process.

Draft centres on risk detection

The consultation concerns a draft resolution for a mechanism intended to detect risky behaviour among users of state-regulated gambling services. The original DGOJ notice provides the agreement, explanatory note, draft resolution, supporting memorandum and data-protection impact assessment.

The material is still a proposal under consultation. The notices do not say that a final detection system has already entered into force, so players and operators should not treat the draft as an active rule.

Consultation is not a final rule

Risk-detection rules can affect how licensed operators identify and respond to patterns associated with gambling harm. The consultation gives affected people and organisations a formal opportunity to comment on the proposed design before the resolution is finalised.

This report summarises official notices rather than offering legal advice. Anyone relying on the deadline or submitting observations should verify the latest documents directly with the DGOJ. For a related player-protection measure, see Spain's joint deposit-limit model.
