Cross-border payment processor ProntoPaga says it will stop serving online betting platforms that registered for Chile's digital VAT system but failed to pay by the October 20 deadline. The warning adds a private payment consequence to the tax authority's enforcement tools, although the company has not publicly identified any operator whose service has already been suspended.
Diario Financiero reported that ProntoPaga legal officer Teresita Valverde described the policy as firm and without exceptions. The company urged betting clients to regularise their tax position if they want uninterrupted access to its payment infrastructure.
The statement sits inside a wider regime created by Chile's Internal Revenue Service. ECIJA's review of Resolution 69 says foreign remote betting and casino providers must register, declare and pay VAT through the simplified system, including applicable earlier periods. Tax registration does not authorise gambling activity or settle its legal status.
A separate mechanism targets platforms that did not register. G3 Newswire reported that payment providers must withhold 19 percent VAT from transactions involving listed unregistered services and remit it to the treasury. The distinction matters because ProntoPaga's new warning concerns companies that did register but may not have completed payment.
The immediate test is practical enforcement. ProntoPaga announced what it would do, but no public evidence reviewed for this article confirms a completed suspension after the deadline. Any affected operator and the duration of an interruption therefore remain to be established.
