The NCAA has joined an industry programme that identifies people responsible for betting-related abuse and threats directed at athletes, coaches and officials. It is the first U.S. sports governing body to announce participation in the Bad Actor Program operated by IC360 and Signify Group.
Under the arrangement, the NCAA will report incidents found during championship monitoring. The association says participating betting platforms can use the resulting information to cross-reference customer accounts and impose restrictions when the evidence warrants action.
The programme combines open-source social-media monitoring with investigative work intended to identify the individuals behind abusive accounts. Its responses can range from account suspension or termination to referral of more serious cases to law enforcement. The process is aimed at accountability for abusive conduct rather than restricting legitimate criticism of sports performance.
SBC Americas reports that DraftKings, Fanatics, Kalshi and Novig also participate in the U.S. programme. The NCAA move extends the shared system from betting operators and prediction markets to the governing body responsible for college championships.
