IGT and MGM Springfield have launched the first wide-area progressive slot network in Massachusetts. The installation connects 20 Wheel of Fortune games to shared jackpot pools and introduces a format that had not previously operated in the state's regulated casinos.

MGM Springfield created a dedicated Wheel of Fortune Slots Zone for the launch. The IGT announcement said progressive jackpot reset values across the zone range from $200,000 to $1.125 million.

Wide-area progressive games link machines so that wagers contribute to a common jackpot pool. G3 Newswire reported that the Springfield installation uses several recent IGT cabinets and combines established Wheel of Fortune titles with newer variants.

The deployment includes Big Money on the Trio cabinet, Cash Link Reels titles on the DiamondRS Wheel cabinet and Triple Stars Gold Spin Deluxe on the CrystalWheel Stepper. Global Gaming Insider confirmed the 20-game total and the networked jackpot format.

The launch coincides with the thirtieth anniversary of IGT's Wheel of Fortune slot franchise. It is a market-infrastructure change as well as a product release because the shared jackpot network introduces a new prize structure for Massachusetts casino players.
