Continent 8 Technologies has launched SecureEdge, a managed content-delivery and edge-security service built with Varnish Software for online gambling operators. The product is available immediately to new and existing customers, according to the companies' October 20 announcement.
The official launch notice says the service combines a content delivery network with a web-application firewall and distributed denial-of-service protection. Continent 8 manages the system on its own infrastructure, while Varnish supplies the underlying CDN in a Box technology.
SecureEdge is designed for websites, applications, APIs and streaming workloads used by sportsbooks, online casinos, live-dealer studios and platform providers. Moving cached content closer to users can reduce delivery latency, while the security layers are intended to filter malicious traffic at the network edge. Actual results will depend on each deployment, traffic profile and configuration.
A current industry report confirms the product launch and scope. The companies say this is the first production deployment of Varnish CDN in a Box by a partner directly across its own network.
The launch materials do not identify initial customers or disclose pricing, contract terms, service-level commitments or independent performance benchmarks. SecureEdge is therefore a new commercial infrastructure option rather than evidence yet of measured gains for a particular operator.
